Before starting make sure the sparkling wine, tequila, and Cointreau are very cold. You can leave them in the fridge one day before preparing the cocktail.
Put the first lime on a cutting board, and cut it into four slices of the same size.
Take a lime wedge, and rub the rim of each glass, so that it is moistened with lemon juice. Reserve the extra lime wedges for garnish.
Spread the sugar on a shallow plate. Then place the glasses upside down on the sugar. So that the sugar sticks to the rim of each glass.
In a shaker or large mug, mix: the juice of lime, the Cointreau, and the tequila. Stir until all ingredients are well mixed. Then add about 200 ml of sparkling wine.
Fill champagne glass half way up with mixture, then fill the remainder of the glass with more sparkling wine, and cheers.
