Place the butter into a large microwave safe bowl. Microwave until the butter has completely melted.
Add the marshmallows to the bowl with the butter, and microwave at 15 second intervals until the marshmallows are completely melted and the mixture is combined.
Put the cereal into a large mixing bowl, and pour the marshmallows mixture over top of it. Stir to combine well.
Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x9 baking dish. Use a piece of parchment or freezer paper to push the cereal mixture into a flat even layer without it sticking.
Place the pan into the fridge to set for one hour before slicing and serving.
